ARTIST STATEMENT
The mural is a representation of many elements that have significant meaning to culture, people, country, ceremony, and more. Allan has summarised what each piece means.
Goanna - represents the Wiradjuri Totem.
Colours - On top represent Diversity of
L: Lesbian / G: Gay / B: Bisexual / T: Transgender
Black/white feet: Community walking together
Colours used in mural: Red ochre, yellow ochre, white ochre, and black are the four main colours of the earth.
Kangaroo, Fish, Turtle, and Platypus are all living Animals important to our Culture
Artifacts: Spear / Coolamon / come back Boomerang , and other Traditional Tools are important in Hunting, Gathering & Ceremonial Connections
Water: Representing Life - life source of Everything & the ripples in the water represents Challengers that are sent to Try Us
Meeting Place (last symbol at the end) represents Meeting Place, All Cultures Coming Together / reconciliation.

Allan McKenzie Senior is an all round artist who has endless amounts of creativity!
Allan has been living In Griffith for 35+ years and is a professional artist in many art forms. Sculptures of any material, designs, painting and murals, Allan is also a didgeridoo expert and a creator of aboriginal artifacts.
Drawing inspiration for his works from living in the bush as a child and caring for native wildlife. Allan is also a teacher of aboriginal culture and will mentor young artists at his site to encourage the next generation of artists in our city.
